Grief Support Group
Event Description:
This student therapist-led grief support group provides a structured, compassionate space for adults who have experienced the loss of a loved one. The group blends guided discussion, psychoeducation, and peer support to help participants process grief, reduce isolation, and develop healthy ways of coping with loss.
Groups meet weekly and are offered at multiple times to accommodate different schedules:
Tuesdays at 12:00 PM
Saturdays at 1:00 PM
If none of the listed meeting times work for your schedule, you are encouraged to reach out and let us know what days and times would be more accessible for you. We make every effort to consider additional group offerings based on community interest and availability.
Groups are intentionally kept small to foster safety, connection, and meaningful participation. Participation begins with a brief screening to ensure the group is an appropriate fit for each individual.

Week 4:
Session Focus:
Adjusting to a New Environment Without the Deceased
Session Purpose:
The purpose of Week 4 is to help participants explore how their roles, routines, identity, and relationships have shifted following the loss of a loved one.
This session focuses on adjusting to a new environment without the deceased, both externally and internally.
Participants will reflect on the practical and emotional changes that come with loss, such as taking on new responsibilities, navigating altered social dynamics, and redefining their sense of self.
The session also offers space to begin identifying ways to adapt while still honoring the connection to the person who has died.
Session Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will:
Understand how loss disrupts roles, routines, identity, and relationships.
Reflect on the external and internal adjustments they have already made or are currently facing.
Explore the emotional impact of taking on new responsibilities or shifting family dynamics.
Begin identifying strategies for adapting to life without the deceased, including creating new routines and rebuilding a support system.
Recognize that adapting does not mean forgetting, but rather finding ways to honor the past while moving forward.
