Grief Support Group
Event Description:
This student therapist-led grief support group provides a structured, compassionate space for adults who have experienced the loss of a loved one. The group blends guided discussion, psychoeducation, and peer support to help participants process grief, reduce isolation, and develop healthy ways of coping with loss.
Groups meet weekly and are offered at multiple times to accommodate different schedules:
Tuesdays at 12:00 PM
Saturdays at 1:00 PM
If none of the listed meeting times work for your schedule, you are encouraged to reach out and let us know what days and times would be more accessible for you. We make every effort to consider additional group offerings based on community interest and availability.
Groups are intentionally kept small to foster safety, connection, and meaningful participation. Participation begins with a brief screening to ensure the group is an appropriate fit for each individual.

Week 7:
Session Focus:
The Role of Memory and Continuing Bonds
Session Purpose:
The purpose of Week 7 is to help participants explore the concept of continuing bonds—maintaining a healthy, meaningful connection with their loved one after death.
Rather than “letting go” or “moving on,” this session emphasizes how memory and ritual can support healing, emotional integration, and narrative reconstruction.
Participants will reflect on memories, consider how the deceased has shaped their life story, and explore ways to carry that relationship forward in a way that supports growth, meaning, and connection.
Session Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will:
Understand the role of memory and continuing bonds in the healing process.
Reflect on how honoring the deceased supports emotional processing and meaning making.
Explore how sharing memories can help reframe their life story with the loss included.
Learn about simple, meaningful rituals to maintain a sense of connection with the deceased.
Identify personal ways they can carry the memory of their loved one while continuing to move forward with life.
