Why I Became a Therapist
I am inspired by systemic therapy because of my belief that the impacts of this work can go far beyond the therapy room. I deeply appreciate it when clients share about their newfound ability to identify, understand, and provide compassion for behaviors or patterns in their lives that affect their mental health and well-being. I find it rewarding when clients identify new perspectives or meanings for past events that fit their present-day needs and values.
Expertise:
Anxiety Treatment:
I enjoy working with anxiety treatment because it’s something that shows up for the majority of my clients, and I see how deeply it can impact daily life. I’m especially drawn to helping clients identify and name the somatic sensations connected to anxiety, as building this awareness often creates a sense of clarity and relief. My interest in this work is also personal—having navigated my own struggles with anxiety, I bring empathy, understanding, and a grounded presence to the therapeutic space.
Couples Therapy:
I enjoy working with couples because I’m deeply influenced by Attachment Theory and the understanding that we all have an innate need for human connection. I’m passionate about helping partners recognize how their attachment patterns show up in their relationship and learning new ways to feel seen, heard, and secure with one another. Using the Gottman Method, I support couples in strengthening their communication, deepening emotional intimacy, and building healthier, more resilient relationships together.
Depression Treatment:
I am especially passionate about working with individuals experiencing depression, as I frequently support clients who feel overwhelmed by persistent sadness, hopelessness, or emotional exhaustion. Some of the people I work with also experience suicidal ideation or thoughts of self-harm alongside recurrent depression, and I approach this work with care, attunement, and a strong focus on safety. A central part of my therapeutic approach is helping clients develop self-compassion—learning to relate to themselves with kindness rather than criticism as they navigate their healing journey. I believe that when clients feel deeply understood and supported, meaningful and lasting change becomes possible.
Family Therapy:
I am drawn to family therapy because I believe our relationships shape who we are and how we experience the world. Grounded in Attachment Theory, my work centers on our innate need for human connection and the ways family relationships can both support and strain that need. I also integrate Bowen Family Systems Theory to help families better understand patterns, roles, and emotional dynamics that influence their interactions. By increasing awareness and strengthening emotional bonds, I support families in creating healthier, more connected relationships where each person can feel seen, valued, and secure.
Therapy for Teens:
I enjoy working with teens because of the energy, honesty, and creativity they bring into the therapeutic space. Adolescence is a powerful time of growth, and I am especially interested in helping teens identify familial patterns and relational dynamics that may be impacting their current concerns. I also have a strong commitment to supporting LGBTQIA+ youth, offering an affirming, safe, and nonjudgmental space where they can explore identity, relationships, and emotional well-being. My goal is to help teens feel understood, empowered, and supported as they navigate this important stage of life.
