Grief Support Group
Event Description:
This student therapist-led grief support group provides a structured, compassionate space for adults who have experienced the loss of a loved one. The group blends guided discussion, psychoeducation, and peer support to help participants process grief, reduce isolation, and develop healthy ways of coping with loss.
Groups meet weekly and are offered at multiple times to accommodate different schedules:
Tuesdays at 12:00 PM
Saturdays at 1:00 PM
If none of the listed meeting times work for your schedule, you are encouraged to reach out and let us know what days and times would be more accessible for you. We make every effort to consider additional group offerings based on community interest and availability.
Groups are intentionally kept small to foster safety, connection, and meaningful participation. Participation begins with a brief screening to ensure the group is an appropriate fit for each individual.

Week 6:
Session Focus:
Grief and Identity
Session Purpose:
The purpose of Week 6 is to explore the deep and often disorienting impact of grief on one’s identity and sense of self.
After a significant loss, individuals may find themselves questioning who they are without the roles or relationships that once defined them.
This session creates space to reflect on how grief can challenge life narratives, personal direction, and sense of purpose.
Participants will also begin to explore pathways toward rebuilding a positive sense of self, including reconnecting with passions, developing self-compassion, and forming new routines and relationships that support healing and growth.
Session Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will:
Recognize how grief can affect personal identity, roles, and one’s sense of life direction.
Reflect on the emotional and existential questions that may arise after a loss.
Identify internal shifts they’ve experienced in how they see themselves or their future.
Explore practical ways to begin rebuilding a positive and meaningful self-identity.
Gain tools to foster self-compassion, rediscover passions, and create structure through supportive routines and relationships.
