Strengthen Your Relationship: 6-Week Couples Group Therapy Program

Event Description:

Each 2-hour session includes:

  • Psychoeducation on relationship science and theory

  • Experiential exercises you'll practice during the session

  • Structured couple dialogues in a supportive group environment

  • Homework assignments to deepen learning between sessions

  • Group discussion with other couples facing similar challenges

  • Research-based assessments to understand your unique dynamics

You'll work directly with your partner during exercises while benefiting from the wisdom and support of other couples in the group. All sharing is voluntary, and confidentiality is strictly maintained.

Note: This is a psychoeducational group, not a substitute for couples therapy.

Target Audience:

This group is designed for couples who:

  • Want to strengthen an already good relationship

  • Are experiencing communication difficulties or recurring conflicts

  • Feel emotionally disconnected and want to rebuild intimacy

  • Are navigating life transitions or major stressors together

  • Want to understand deeper patterns affecting their partnership

  • Are committed to personal and relational growth

Week 1: Sunday, November 9th from 11:00am to 1:00pm
Week 2: Sunday, November 16th from 11:00am to 1:00pm
Week 3: Sunday, November 23rd from 11:00am to 1:00pm
Week 4: Sunday, November 30th from 11:00am to 1:00pm
Week 5: Sunday, December 7th from 11:00am to 1:00pm
Week 6: Sunday, December 14th from 11:00am to 1:00pm

Pricing:

$30 per couple for the entire 6 week series, due upon registration

Facilitator Information:

This group will be led by Megan Gallagher and Tommy Wilson, student therapists, under supervision of Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapists and AAMFT Approved Supervisors or AAMFT Supervisor Candidates at Friends University.

 

Week 3: Emotional Regulation & Healing

Session Focus:

Self-soothing and creating reparative experiences

Session Purpose:

Develop emotional regulation skills that enable deeper connection

Session Objectives:

Participants will:

  • Implement flooding protocol

  • Strengthen fondness system

  • Understand childhood adaptations

  • Assess relationship accessibility, responsiveness, and engagement
