Celebrating Small Wins on Your Autism Parenting Journey with a Child Therapist in Kansas
Event Description:
Raising a child with autism can involve coordinating support from many different people—teachers, medical professionals, speech and occupational therapists, behavioral specialists, and others. Parents and caregivers are often the ones bringing all of these pieces together while also providing the day-to-day care, encouragement, and advocacy their child needs.
Yet caregivers need support, too.
Parents Need A Herd Too is an online support group for parents and caregivers of children with autism who want a place to connect with people who truly understand their experiences. The group provides an opportunity to talk openly about the emotional ups and downs of parenting, discover ways to care for yourself while caring for your child, and develop supportive relationships with other parents navigating similar experiences.
Target Audience:
Parents or couples who are the primary caregivers of a child between the ages of 2 and 18 with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder are welcome to participate.

Session Focus
Recognizing progress, celebrating meaningful moments, and noticing the victories that can sometimes go unseen.
Session Purpose
Parenting a child with autism can involve focusing so much on challenges, appointments, goals, and next steps that it becomes easy to overlook how much progress is happening along the way. This session creates space for parents to pause and celebrate the moments that matter—from a new skill or positive experience for their child to a moment when they handled a difficult situation with patience, confidence, or compassion.
Participants will be encouraged to recognize that progress does not have to be dramatic to be meaningful. Sharing these moments with others can help build hope, reinforce strengths, and create a more balanced perspective on the parenting journey. Parents may also discover how a family therapist in Overland Park, KS can help families recognize strengths and build upon positive changes within their relationships.
Session Objectives
By the end of the session, each parent will identify at least one recent personal or parenting “win” and have an opportunity to share it with the group. Participants will reflect on what made that moment meaningful and use it to strengthen a sense of accomplishment, hope, and appreciation for their own efforts and their child’s progress.
