Parenting Children on the Spectrum With Support in Liberty, MO

Event Description:
Children on the autism spectrum often benefit from a collaborative team of professionals, including speech, occupational, and behavioral therapists, as well as educators and medical providers. At the center of this team is the parent—providing consistent care, advocacy, and support.

But who supports the parents?

Parents Need A Herd Too is a support group designed to provide a safe, welcoming space for parents of children with autism. This group offers an opportunity to explore complex emotions, prioritize self-care, and build meaningful connections with others who understand the unique challenges and rewards of parenting a child on the spectrum.

Target Audience:

This group is intended for individuals or couples that are the primary caregivers for at least one child, ages 2-18, diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Week 2: Saturday, June 27th, 2026 from 3:00pm to 4:30pm
Week 3: Saturday, July 4th, 2026 from 3:00pm to 4:30pm
Week 4: Saturday, July 11th, 2026 from 3:00pm to 4:30pm
Week 5: Saturday, July 18th, 2026 from 3:00pm to 4:30pm
Week 6: Saturday, July 25th, 2026 from 3:00pm to 4:30pm
Week 7: Saturday, August 1st, 2026 from 3:00pm to 4:30pm
Week 8: Saturday, August 8th, 2026 from 3:00pm to 4:30pm

Pricing:

$30 per adult for the entire 9 week series, due upon registration

Week 4:

Session Focus:

Identity beyond parenthood

Session Purpose:

Parents are encouraged to explore their identity beyond the caregiver role and reconnect with parts of themselves that may have been put aside.

Session Objectives:

By the end of this session, participants will:

  • participants will identify at least one personal interest, value, strength, or role outside of parenting and discuss ways to reconnect with that part of themselves.
